The 2013 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA 2013) will be held on 6-10 May 2013 in Germany, in Karlsruhe, the city in which Heinrich Hertz discovered the electromagnetic waves in 1888 and which gave birth in 1844 to Karl Benz – the inventor of the gasoline-powered automobile – and in 1785 to Karl von Drais – inventor of the first bicycle-like vehicle called “Walking Machine” or “Draisine”.

The conference theme is “Anthropomatics – Technologies for Humans,” highlighting the paramount role of Robotics and Automation in improving human quality of life.

The IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation is sponsored by the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society. IEEE is a non-profit, technical professional association of more than 377,000 individual members in 150 countries. The full name is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. The IEEE is a leading authority in technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics, among others.

The Robotics & Automation Society is a very active world-wide research association working on the future of robotics. The conference will join experts in the field of robotics and automation for technical communications through presentations and discussions. The conference will create a remarkable environment to indulge all the delegates in the frontier of science and technology in robotics and automation.

The ICRA 2013 edition will last for five days, consisting of two days of workshops/tutorials, three days of technical presentations with six plenary talks, exhibitions, technical and non-technical tours, attractive social events, as well as RA society meetings.
