A Changing of the Guard (June 2010)
This summer, Lynne Parker and Kevin Lynch will complete their five-year terms as Editors of the Transactions. They will be replaced by Dieter Fox and Bradley Nelson.
Dieter Fox is currently Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington (Seattle), and the director of Intel Labs Seattle. Dieter has been a pioneer in the area of probabilistic robotics since the early 1990's. He begins his one-year initial term as Editor in July.
Bradley Nelson is the Professor of Robotics and Intelligent Systems at ETH-Zurich, where he founded the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent System and leads the Multi-Scale Robotics Lab. Brad has been a pioneer in the areas of microrobotics, biomicrorobotics and nanorobotics. He begins his one-year initial term as Editor in September.
In general, Editors are appointed to an initial one-year term, which is then extended to a full five-year term, pending agreement by the Editor and Senior Editors Panel of the Transactions. This gives the new Editors a chance to evaluate the demands of the Editor position, while establishing a preliminary review mechanism in the appointment process.

Important Notice
Since January 1, 2008, the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ROBOTICS (T-RO) has used a fully web-based paper review and management system, powered by PaperCept.
New submissions and resubmissions should go to ras.papercept.net/journals/tro.The categories of submissions are four: regular papers, short papers, survey papers, and communication items. The first three allow also multimedia attachments (e.g., videos) to be uploaded.
For submission, ALL authors of a paper should possess a PIN number from the Robotics & Automation Society (RAS) journal or conference management systems. If you have submitted a paper to the most recent ICRA conferences, you already have one. In order to find your own or someone else's PIN, update your personal information (strongly recommended before submitting), or register a new PIN if you never obtained one before, just follow the link in the log in page of the submission site.
Since August 15, 2008, authors should use the IEEE Transactions style and format right from the initial submission. There are limits on the maximum number of PDF pages in Transactions format for each paper category. For more details, read here.
For further inquiries, please contact the T-RO Editor-in-Chief.
